CAPTURED......Red-Headed WOODPECKER !

Image
*Yesterday, I got some really nice shots of a red-headed Woodpecker. Also had taken pics of pretty clover. Sadly (really hurt my feelings!!)---somehow, the pics got lost/dumped after transfer to computer.* Grrrrrrrrrrr So today, I began anew.... Later this evening, I saw the red-head again. Finally got some decent shots -- after several attempts. Life is good. :0 I was happy w/these shots. However...hate I lost yesterday --when he "rambled" up/down the tree. ! Oh well......2nd chance was given, and I got shots.

HAIRY Houdini !!

Image
Today....my lucky # came up for me. Hairy Woodpecker has been scarce this season. Not today.... Happily, I was in my "best shot spot" and saw him fly in, he lit onto the red feeder. With his "feet", he hangs onto the rim of the tray & eats. Cute. Watching.....he flipped Upside/Down to eat his seed! Crazzzzzzzzzee! Then, upright once again... Grabbed a seed & flew away.... Lamar saw this happen......it was sooooooooo cute! Made my day. :)

NEW Addition...........

Image
Sunday was a sorta lazzzzee day for me. After my physical work-out @ Gibbs on Sat....I needed to unlax and chill. Began watching the birds (Ofcourse!). We have a new addition to our eye candies. First spotted him, peekin out frm leaves @ me! Then....he made himself @ home on the tray. Looked right at me!! Now this one appears more black...didn't see the red on the breast. Spotted him later w/red bird....makes neat-0 pic! This morning, I saw 3 of these guys (don't know where #4 was). They are a pretty addition to the 'regulars'..... ****UPDATE -- Alice found it for me. Is a male, red-breasted Grosbeak. Thank you, Alice. :)

Chickadee vs Wren --Part DEUX !!

Image
Today our "fighters" returned... Wren showed up first. Then, here comes Chickadee! These guys just aren't stopping their feud!  "materials" hanging loose--Wren chirpping loudly now.. Looking to see how much work still to be done!  Chickadee returns, scoping out the scene... Looking about for nemisis...  Wren --throwing out "materials" each trip "materials" fly to ground, as Wren leaves again Wren - pretty much "cleaned out" residence !! This "war" is very interesting to watch. Early on, the Chickadee flew in (on the sneak) and the Wren took off. Have NO clue as to how this will finally play out....Chickadee isn't attempting to replace "materials", just seems to want the Wren gone !! .......to be continued

CHICKADEE vs WREN ....

Image
Today bird watching hit a new level. The bird world, if you observe, is filled w/characters to enjoy and mystify! The beginning....last yr. we had Wrens take up residence in my lil $3 bird house. It was exciting because we had not experienced nesters before then. The Wrens stayed for their "time" and were gone. The last couple of weeks, we've noticed Chickadees moved into this humble cottage. Now....they added to the nesting materials, but left it otherwise as they found this home. (I had thought Chickadee was "moving", as I caught him w/nesting items in his mouth, leaving the home.) This time, Chickadee is removing nesting materials...just throwing it out on the ground. I'm puzzled. Now, while Chickadee may have been "moving".....Wren showed up to take possession. What? This is getting more interesting by the hour.... Then I noticed Wren was throwing out nesting materials, too. What? Then....the Chickadee returned, pulled out mat

MARTIN antics !

Image
This story has two happenings. Early this morning I saw it happen....then Lamar witnessed it later this afternoon (before our storm). We're seeing a couple of Martins come thru a bit the last wk. or so. Today, I was on the porch (WITH camera, ofcourse!) when Martin flew into the "garden".  They are pretty good looking birds....dark black w/some red markings. I watched.....he's a pretty large bird, and he tried to land on a couple of the feeders. He's tooo big, so doesn't work well for him. Now this is one SMART bird..... Yep! He sat on an adjoining branch, turned his head, and ate out of the tray bottom. It was such a sight!! Then he'd take seeds and crack them on yet another branch!! 1st pic was this morning. Above happened EXactly the same way this afternoon.  What a bit 'o FUN .... Bird watching is indeed a unique "hobby".

M E N ....my Choices

Image
I see FBookers posting men w/tight "abs", tattoos, and NO chest hair. To each his own, as that ol saying goes. These are a few I found, I **LIKE** chest hair !! Yes....I know young. Except for Pierce Brosnan! Some were on Google (ha!)..... A beautiful smile and dreamy eyes are also a PLUS. So there..........

BLUE Review.....

Image
Today was out of the house! Reported to my  car dealership for 2 itty-bitty maintenance items on Baby. Ralph( yes, we're on a 1st name basis!!) advised it would be an hr. or so.* They were slammed w/teachers off this week, trying to get in/out for vacation trips.* Arrived early....'bout 45min. (wanted in/out asap!) Proceeded to "wait" area. At 10:30, I went back to check "status" of work. Duh. There had been a "mix-up" and would be another 1-1 1/2hrs. Now, you know how that affected my pleasant personality. LOL So....Ralph offered to "talk" to the mgr. and "move things along". Ok....then give me a driver, or a car, so I can go get vittles! He did! (but the  joke was on me, as I see it!) This is what I so sweetly received to drive: *that's Vickie in the car* That ugggggleeee thing was UNbelievably  SMALL inside. We were almost sitting in each other's laps!! Then, when we arrived----I barely was able to get m

POP-in by GRANDS....

Image
Today, there was a whopping explosion @ Plant Bowen (Ga.Power). This is located closely in relationship to  where our GRANDS, Stacey & Marc live! Marc called and said that the explosion "rocked" the whole house! Marc and the GRANDS loaded up and came to our house. Stacey was on her way home from work, she joined us later. It was a NICE surprise. Ran  'round like a chicken w/no head! and was able to feed them! They visited a while and headed back home. Now....you KNOW this was an EVENT for the camera and me! LOL   Marc turned 'round and asked...seriously???? Yes. ANY time my family is gathered....it's an event to record. A moment in time...a treasure for me. So.....ofcourse, Eric took up the "critic role" and did this silly one!! Saying that I always catch them eating in "awkward" shots.  If you notice, you can see Hunter laughing when Eric was "playin to the camera". My sons do NOT lack personality.....hahaha In spite

RED Above..........

Today was my 1st day "sittin" w/the GRANDS. They are out of school (again!!!) for break this week. Went out onto deck.....there he was.......perched up high, singing away. He just kept on singing....I kept getting closer.....until I was directly beneath his perch.... It was the first time one allowed me to be so close....'course I was being verrry quiet! LOL Made my day. :)
