GRANDkids make Christmas

Drove over to see C'ville grandkids this mornin. They were soooo excited and had TOO much to believe!! Got loving HUGS and watched a short time while they ran from one thing to another to show us. Parents seemed happy just watching them have fun and enjoy their new toys. I remember those days...even if they were a   l o n g  time ago for us as parents. The bright eyes, the excited voices, the swing from one thing to another. Good memories. Now, we're grandparents and the joy these kids bring us is impossible to describe in words. Then, called Mich. grandkids to wish them Merry Christmas. Was disappointed, had to leave a message.....wow! in a short time, they called us back. We got to talk to Brandon & Chellsey and hear about their day. They had 5"(?) of snow on the ground & it was 30degrees there! They are headed out to a family Christmas dinner. It was so wonderful to be able to talk to them. We miss them soooooooo much. They are teenagers now! It takes so lit

Age of Wonder

12/15/2010 This day smacks me right into the reality of my life's season! It's legal and now my mind must wrap around this idea. My 1st Social Security check was deposited today!!!!!! Here I am...but, how the heck?, did time fast forward me!! Most days I am feeling well, energy rating is up and the day is filled with much activity. Other times, not so much!! I am blessed to be healthy, still able to move about with all my body parts in tact, still ok to drive (just being extra careful & NO night driving!), can communicate with all I meet and still have an appetite(sometimes "out of control" on cravings, I admit!). At 62, I am blessed with a loving family, top-of-the line true friends, the most beautiful 4 grandkids and a husband that loves me. So, being in this time of my life is amazing. My boys now have children of their own, living their lives their way!! Many of those I love dearly have passed on and are greatly missed. Looking forward to the years yet to

Lesson in Attitude Adjustment

Wed. 12/1/10  Don't fall off your chairs...went shoppin today! NOT my usual "thing", however, wanted 3 specific items. All 3 to do w/deco for my new bath. 1)spray to change color on artificial flowers 2)paint to change color on glass vase & 3)shelf/drawer liner for new storage vanity. Now, in the past when I was deep into "crafty" things, these were very COMMON short cuts to accomplish money-saving & redesign things already on hand. Today---NONE could be found, all stores I checked had decided not to carry these items...Well WTH does that do for me---leaves me "hanging" w/o a way to accomplish my money-savin good deeds!!!!!!! Went to Hobby Lobby,Big Lots,Belk's,Kohl's & had already ck'd at WalMart,KMart,Target on line. Bummer--so frustrated, aggravated & "ticked off" I was about to burst!!! Then I looked beside me and there was my sweet, fun, happy, LUCKY friend having the best time---she was findin things she w

Dreams DO Come True

Many yrs. have passed and now my dream is fulfilled...I have an updated, CLEAN surfaces, storage area, new shower insert, Hi-boy toliet, freshly painted new walls,well-lighted bathroom. There is NO comparison now to what I lived with for over 25yrs. Old vs New -- Old had paint peeling off walls, only 2 bulbs over the sink, MOLD all around the shower!! It was totally embarrasing & not a pleasant place....New one has all NEW fixtures (brushed nickel), new combo shower head w/like "rain" head & hand-held, freshly painted walls, 3 light set over the sink & overhead light (NEVER had before). Now have storage for all my fun bath gels in drawers & built-in shelves inside shower insert...how wonderful!! My hero is my son, Eric....he did all the work. It has been a very exhausting, aggravating plumbing & electrical challenge ALL the way thru!! He is very detail oriented, determined & smart, too. The challenges were overwhelming at times, but he got it DONE.

Bee & the Bird...

Monday - Eric is hard @ work on my bathroom. Tore out floor today. There begins my story...   About 10am-ish, suddenly something flew frm the open bath toward me sitting at my computer...it lit on my shoulder, I swatted it away & then began to see what it was & where the heck did it go? Saw "flying object" so I used flyswatter, knocked it down, then killed that sucker!! After it was dead, I did a closer inspection --it was one of those MEAN yellow bees!!! I am totally allergic to stings, so I'm happy he died. Yeah, I know he was just doing a brief visitation from the rainy cold outside, but that sucker chose the WRONG woman to mess with.....lol   Then about 3-4-ish, I was talking to Eric & something flew over his head..he looked like a deer in headlights at me, I saw a "flash", then nothing.....Observed a little more & saw it -- a sweet little WREN had come also for visitation!! Eric finally was able to "shoo" him out the bottom of the

Lollygagging!

Lollygag/lallygag -- to dawdle; waste time!!! Sunday - day of rest....I am GUILTY of lollygagging today. Not my usual frame of mind, but today, I have done this job VERY well, managed to do it all day!! lol    However, honestly, I must admit GUILTY feelings for having done this.....Usually I am very busy w/various "projects" which keep me active & on the go. Today fell to the bottom of the ravine for doing anything productive!!    Had breakfast @ Golden Corral this morning....nothing productive much since that gargantuan assortment of tasty morsels!!! The one defense of nothing done is -- I actually washed 3-4 dirty pots & put them away...YEAH for me....lol    Otherwise, I've played Scrabble, read news articles, sat on the porch & watched traffic!!!!!!!!!!  lol   I do in reality know that all the "projects" to be done are still awaiting my personal attention before they will be completed....so, what the heck...nothing lost, nothing gained this da

Lamar's Love Gathering

Early this mornin, Lamar says he has a proposal...now I'm thinkin this could be interesting!! HA HA. He suggested we get the family together & go eat at Golden Corral...said he would pay!! I got on the phone, got immediate yes frm Eric&Kelly; then called Stacey. She has been "under the weather" this wk. & wasn't feelin so good. Marc said they had just planned to stay home & he had steaks gettin ready. So, I understood that was a "not this time".  Then, I had a brain f...!! Donnie is always chiding me for not inviting them to our Sun. b'fast get-togethers....most of the yr. they are off w/boys in ball tournaments, so I had given up on them being w/us. So, called him...he quickly said YES & they agreed to join us. This info made Lamar very happy...he says bring them on, I'm ready!! We had the BEST time - what can be more fun than a family sittin together, all talking & laughin at the same time??  Then tonite Stacey called and

Walking Tour

Today Eric took me walking....approx. 3 hrs!! Now I haven't walked that much since 2yrs. ago *walked a mi. 7days a wk. for exercise*!! At best, I was a tired old GrandMa/Mama!!!  The "tour" was thru Home Depot AND Lowe's....lookin & pricing items to be used to redo my bathroom. Now to say I'm excited is less than accurate...after waitin yrs. for this time to come!! I'm mentally "pooped" and overwhelmed by ALL the decisions/things that must be decided just to get this redo project in gear!! Pricing is really outrageous on some items...may have to drop back & punt on less important item. I am so all into this "project" and so THANKFUL that Eric will be doing the work for me. He's a good carpenter & loving son....So, truthfully, the walkin my feet off was worth every minute...the soreness & being tired will go away w/rest!! I'm soooooooooo excited...........to be cont'd!!!
