Waaaay BACK !!

Geez.....this is the high school I attended!! Yes, that's a very loooong time ago! Students called this building the "FORT"...and it's moniker never changed. Our class was the last ones to attend at this location. Happily, a more modern school was built and this one we left behind....memories and all! Love seeing all these WINDOWS! The new "modern" school had windows built above our heads, so we would have nothing to "distract" us from the rigors of learning!!! Briefly.....remember the "squeaky" wood floors, and stairs and always wondering if they would "fall" through at some point...LOL   Our cafeteria was reached by walking under a slightly covered walkway. It was separate from our school building.....you went,---rain, shine, cold, or hot---if you wanted to eat lunch! Our class was also the 1st class to graduate from the "new" school. At the time, that earned bragging rights for us....LOL The memories inclu

How Does It Live??

There is a bush next to my bird "garden". This bush is sad, but still amazing in it's own way! I thought this yr. that no "blooms" would be on it....yet, here it is: The birds who visit us LOVE this bush. It seems to be their "landing" and waiting location! All the birds wind up there at some point. (as you've seen in my pix) This is a bush....when you see it, you immediately notice how it has bent over w/time. The itty-bitty branches, if broken, are hollow & dry. Yet, there it is.....green w/flowering blooms, or whatever they're called, each year......at least, again this year!  It leans heavily to the left, from this angle. One long limb already touching the ground. Maybe this bush carries a message, you think? A message that even as aged and bent as it is.....it is still being USEFUL! It is a "haven" for the birds, and I do still enjoy the white "blooms/flowers" it shows off every year. It is an ama

BIRD man....

Lamar feeding the birds... A few years back...I was trying to find a way to get this wonderful man up & out of his fav chairs! So, I gently suggested he begin feeding the birds for me. This responsibility has worked.....and he actually loves doing this! To explain.....Diabetes, extremely arthritic knees, and just 70yrs. of living have taken it's toll. His other up/out trip is to bring in the mail from our box....about 100ft. maybe to the road & back.? Lamar goes out @ nite, takes down the feeders, and stores them in our cans until mornin. Otherwise....the possums and racoons tear them down and try to destroy them! (Well, we do live in a highly wooded area.) Then, in the morning....Lamar goes out and rehangs them for the feedin frenzy that day! He also puts seeds on the ground for those birds, too. It has taken one responsibility off me.....and given him something fun to do, too. Works for us!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Guitar Man...

Image
This monument has caught my eye for at least a yr. now! I was always curious about it and the person. So, today I stopped, took the pic and came home. I googled his name....found the above writing. Obviously, I was not the only curious traveler! As you can see....there is a very faded bandanna wrapped around the neck of the guitar. The items mentioned by the above writer were not present today. Mr. Ray was so very young....His monument is definitely a "stand-out". So much more to the story, I am sure............

ANGER Management !

Image
I need this angel that Barbara created on Polyvore today! I'm trying to control my anger....the family advises to let it go. Well, that's tuff! After almost 3 wks., I still had NOT gotten results from my last lab work on 4/25....and most upsetting....NO word from a mammogram done on 4/23. NO excuses would be enough to quell my anger. I walked my Grandma self right into that Dr.'s office and demanded my results. (backstory -  this is the 2nd time I've had to do this!) My  Dr.'s nurse came forth quickly after my file was pulled. She  stated she had talked to me & had made a follow-up appt. mammogram for the 15th. WTH! I informed her NOT....had not spoken to her, nor received any voice mail messages. Now, she knows there's trouble. She stated she called my OLD cell number....DUH! my NEW cell number is IN the computer----but  had NOT been transferred to the front of my file chart. My upset  with this "human error" is that, had I not gone there

Yellow NOISE!

Image
The last few years, we have been overrun by these yellow birds. They finish off the feeders in 1 day, and regularly clean off the ground, too! Don't know if you'd call them a covey, swarm or what....but there truly are a LOT of them!  I saw them called blue singers in a book...don't believe that really is their name! They look very much like a small parakeet, maybe a small finch? They are pretty. I took this video for sound purposes only. These birds are very NOISY---from sun-up until near sun-down! You can NOT see them in the trees, but you can HEAR them!! Even with the "yellow noise"....it is sorta peaceful and fun to listen!   These are just a few on 2 feeders....they also cover the ground, too! We truly DO enjoy the pretty, yellow birds AND their noisy presence!     NOTE: BFF, Alice, says these birds may be Goldfinches. She's pretty smart on birds, so that's good for me!
