Waaaay BACK !!
Students called this building the "FORT"...and it's moniker never changed.
Our class was the last ones to attend at this location.
Happily, a more modern school was built and this one we left behind....memories and all!
Love seeing all these WINDOWS! The new "modern" school had windows built above our heads, so we would have nothing to "distract" us from the rigors of learning!!!
Briefly.....remember the "squeaky" wood floors, and stairs and always wondering if they would "fall" through at some point...LOL
Our cafeteria was reached by walking under a slightly covered walkway. It was separate from our school building.....you went,---rain, shine, cold, or hot---if you wanted to eat lunch!
Our class was also the 1st class to graduate from the "new" school. At the time, that earned bragging rights for us....LOL
The memories include fun, good times shared with friends as we grew together, and a certain sadness when all of those years were done.
This building long ago was torn down.....now all that is left is our memories.....and, a snapshot of what was..............
Long after they condemned parts of that old building, we were going to Elementary School there. Ha! I have a brick from there. Uncle Jack took us all over there around Christmas 1999 and we walked all over, hopping over huge holes in the floors. The boys all went upstairs but no way was I going to fall through a floor up there. It's sad to see that old hill empty now. :(
