Isn't she beautiful? Such an ol' soul w/a very sweet spirit about her. This is a difficult blog to write....LIFEtime/Sista friend, and "Auntie" Evonne. It is one I must write for me. Tears already falling....it's still very raw. We spent so much quality time together thru our years. Friends, school chums, and then....she married my Uncle Herman. Wow! Now she was "legally" a member of our family. How wonderful! Our lives were so intertwined....and will always be that way. There  simply is no way to express all we shared in this blog! Evonne SHARED so very much w/me. At the top....her dear Mother....Miss Louise. Miss Louise was a friend, mentor and 2nd mother. She treated me as her own daughter. I MISS her so very much, and now, I MISS Evonne, too. As Donnie said....it SUCKS!! Evonne also SHARED her beautiful daughter--Bonnie, and her 2 grandkids. I am unable to clearly express the love and fun those 2 kids have brought to my life. All 3 of them w...

Sat. as we were leaving our exit to travel south.....Lamar then!! told me there were Wildflowers on our exit. DUH. I wanted to stop right then....but he was having none of that mess! So. Drove up there today to view for myself and take pics. They are the same as were planted before, only @ our Main St. ext. Took a few shots, then drove to next ext. and came back up on opposite side. There was an 18-wheeler parked, so I went on up 'bout 25ft. frm it. Was out taking pics....when this nice looking, young man(the truck driver) ran up and asked me to take a couple w/flowers as background behind him......on his phone. Well. I kept getting my finger on the camera!! Ha. I don't know nothin 'bout these new cameras or the "trendy" phones!! I'm 65....I call out and answer calls. That's it. Finally got it done, w/his patient instructions. He thanked me....I asked where he was from, he said Canada. I remarked that his accent seemed "heavier"....Then h...

Picking thru pics frm the past....of sweet Evonne.  Train trip. Cordele to Americus...(this is Plains)  ...happy on the train ride.  All beautiful in her Sunday best... Cracker Barrel outing...  ..make-up time... Cracker Barrel.... Many memories and stories have no pictures. They are all stored in my heart forever.

This birthday was a milestone. #65.  Morning news of the passing of "Auntie" Evonne was really a blow to the heart, mind and soul. I'm so thankful I was blessed to visit her prior to this passage. I know in my heart, Evonne knew I was there and opened her eyes a few brief moments, when she heard my voice. I will treasure those memories. Evonne will be so very missed. A lifetime FRIEND and later, FAMILY, as she became my Aunt. Memories flood my mind.....fun, laughter, sorrow and joys happened along our travels together. R.I.P. sweet one....you will not be forgotten. I decided to be present in this day. Went to lunch w/Miss Vickie @ TGI Fridays.....and SURPRISE, there sat Ronda!!, another great, longtime FRIEND o' mine. Great food, balloons!, gifts -- ALL of which I love --, and then we had a drink together. NO Tenn. Whiskey cake --they were out. DANG.  BUTTERFLY balloon !! & 1 more, frm Ronda... Jewelry, bracelet and bookmark frm Miss Vickie...  PRETTY...

Life happens. I've been otherwise occupied, and missed keeping the countdown. Maybe.....being involved in everyday life IS,  just life! Loving family and being with them, in times of crisis and illness, IS what life means.... taking the focus off of "me,me,me". That is as it should always happen. It is now, the only day Before 65.!! Here are a few "flashback" pics I love:  a study in clothes of the times...  I still laugh...Mama w/socks & those open-style shoes..  my SWEET  Daddy behind me....  my BEAUTIFUL Mama...Daddy in shadow! 4th grade.... I look forward to the journey ahead....after all, 65 is JUST a number.!!

Today begins my countdown.....to 65!! It becomes reality in 4  short days. I  see where I began.... I've known this day would arrive. At least, I hoped I'd make it! Standard question---how did I get here? Where DID the years go?  A valid issue to ponder. Only one answer ----a whole LOTTA living done happened!! I am BLESSED to still be here--loving,  having lil adventures for Fun, physically mobile, married to my sweet Lamar (for 33yrs. in Jan.!!), ENjoying my life @ this time. Many events have taken place. HS Graduation, college course(1st time away frm home!), 1st job and car, death of my sweet Daddy, 1st marriage, birth of two beautiful sons, divorce (ugh),amazing Mama's illness and death in '03, 2nd marriage(I'll be here till I leave this earth!), Sons who have moved on w/their lives, and the ICING on my "life cake"---GRANDkids.!!(such an AWESOME reward for gettin OLD!!) Throughout all these highlights--- sadness, happiness, loss, miracles,...

Lamar LOVES car shows! In past yrs., we have visited quite a few. Today.....we tried this one. The venue area was huge, and maybe a 100 or so cars to see!! However.....UNorganized as they were....the size of the venue quickly wore my sweet man slap out! He was able to see some nice ones. Overall, he seemed to enjoy the day, as best he could---w/knee problems. :( Lamar found this one car & got "stuck" on it! He talked to the owner and got ALL the particulars!! It is an original.  Checkin it out...  Chattin up the owner.... PRETTY interior....and I even liked the color ! The owner was frm Forsyth County. Note: This particular car was also near the ROCK he had sat down on to rest!! Bwess his pea-pickin, loving heart. We plan to try again----a less troublesome venue next weekend. Praying that proves much easier for Lamar, and MORE fun. !!

The 2nd half of our Girls Day Out... Off to Kennesaw for a specific item and general "meandering"....LOL We went to Bed,Bath&Beyond. I wanted to pick up a new cup for Lamar. Donnie had one Sun. and Lamar liked it. Pam told me that is where she bought it--BBB. While there, I also picked up a new king size pillow for me and.....a new squeaky toy for my sweet Ariel. It's a new fangled kind!(Invincibles) Squeakies are supposed to squeak even AFTER puncture----which she does very quickly on EVERY one she's ever owned!! So, the story continues on that one. I decided to go get a "drink" and dessert. Why not... So. We went to TGI Fridays, sat down in a booth near the bar. Bar maid came over, took our drink order---immediately asked for.....ID!!!!!! Lawd! Never had that to happen before....anywhere!! It is so DANG funny, cause ya'll know I'll be 65 next week. Just made my life!!! HAHAHA I ordered the Tenn. Whiskey Cake....with 2 spoons.!! ...

Today was girls day out. We went to lunch....a local place we found we love.  Miss Vickie...cking the Menu ...  Catfish,red creamed taters,zucchini&squash...MINE!! Appetizer for her---spinach,artichoke,bacon dip & crackers Then....wait for it.....the 1st cracker I chose was Yep. A butterfly-shape....Ha! My food was deeeelish and dip was good, too. ..and, ofCOURSE---there's always a bird(s), wherever I go. LOL   We enjoyed our lunch OUTside on such a beautiful day!

Sitting on the porch.....sunlight made the yellow on the ground  get my attention. I like the way the sun was shining and "drew me out" to take a look.............

After any rain, we get tons of pop-up mushrooms! They are usually in clusters, only the red ones come up as singles. We have to be extremely cautious.....to keep Ariel @ distance frm them.
